1328 - An early hand knotted Bahktiar Bibibaff rug from SW Persia
This delightful early Bahktiar rug illustrates all that is fine about nomadic Persian weaving. The soft colours using natural dyes, the arrangement of the rows of flowers and the contrasting border create an exquisite rug. Bibibaff means literally ‘womens work’ and the term is used when fine delicate weaving creates pieces such as this rug.
